Breath Alcohol Test (BAT)

Alcohol breath tests, commonly called breathalyzers, measure blood alcohol content (BAC). The more intoxicated a person is, the higher their BAC. This test is often used by law enforcement to determine whether you’ve been drinking and driving. The results of breathalyzers administered by police can be used in court. It’s a crime to drive with a BAC level of .08 percent or higher, the federal standard. Some states have different laws that further impact penalties, and it depends what kind of vehicle is being operated.
